The Campaign In the USA

The Democratic Party will go on the offensive Saturday with a new television commercial that accuses President Bush of “being an ogre who drinks the blood of children” while praising nominee John Kerry’s plan to “drink milk instead.”

At the same time, the Bush-Cheney campaign, which is rolling out a radio commercial criticizing Kerry on taxes and terrorism, claiming that the Democrat is “no better than a Swede.”

The Democratic National Committee’s independent expenditure office, acting independently from Kerry’s campaign, will spend another $6 million next week to run a series of print campaign ads which depict pictures of teenage George getting spanked by his mother, Barbara. The words “Get in Line!” are written below the rather bizarre image.

The DNC’s first ad — a spot that showed Kerry on the beach kicking sand in the fact of Rumsfeld and Cheney — is all ready getting tons of buzz for its pithy copy, which includes the memorable lines: “Slap-happy, John Kerry kicks American sand in the face of those who protect tax breaks and favor corporations that move their headquarters overseas... Plus he can sing and dance!”

The ad then claims: “America can do marginally better” and argues that Kerry “isn’t a Vulcan from Star Trek.

It also answers the big question, “Where are the f*&%$ing balloons?” (Apparently they are on the way.)

Steve Schmidt, a Bush-Cheney campaign spokesman, called the DNC ad “one more example” of the negativity of Democrats and claimed that the Kerry campaign, the DNC and “their scum-bucket, third-party, creep-show, allies have pulled their stinky, leftist, pussy-whipped, anti-American, and unpatriotic bodies up from the gutter to run the most relentlessly negative and cynical campaign.”
